Choose the better hosting plan
It is always recommended to analyse the traffic of your website and choose the correct web hosting plan that has the exact resources needed for your website. At ORYON, we always enquire about the resource requirements from our customer when they purchase the new hosting plan or transfer the existing website to us. It will help us clearly understand the purpose of the customer website and then to suggest them a suitable hosting plan with us. For better performance, please choose the hosting plan with correct disk space, RAM, CPU, etc.
If you hope your website would receive large traffic, please choose the hosting plan that can withstand large traffic. Maybe Cloud Server would be a good choice to go with in this case.
Minimize HTTP requests
From the overall website loading speed, around 70 to 80% time has been spent downloading the different parts of the web-pages such as images, scripts, stylesheets. HTTP requests are made for all these elements from the user browser. When there is more HTTP request for one-page, the loading time would increase significantly. Analyse the required HTTP request and reduce this number of unnecessary requests that will speed up your site.
Minify and combine website files
For some cases, you can’t reduce the number of HTTP requests when there are more requests to the required HTML, CSS files. In such a case, you can reduce this number via ‘minifying’ and combining your website files. As a result, it will reduce the size of each file as well as the total number of important files. This workaround is very important when you use a CMS such as WP or other template website builder tools. These kind of website builder tools are easy to build a website, but they would create messy code that can slow your site sometimes.
Optimise the Images and Files
Images and fonts are the vital part of the website that needed to deliver the information in a smart way. When your website has a lot of images, it is highly recommended to optimise the images and use them as small in size as possible. This will result in reducing the size of the website thereby increasing the loading time apparently.
Remove external scripts and Optimize JS
When your website relies on external resources, it is something serious to notice. Because the external scripts will take quite some time to load and it will increase your website loading speed as well. So, try to minimize the external resources usages on your own website. Also, it is best practice to remove the render blocking JavaScript resources as well.
Take advantage of caching
It is worth it to give a space for cache settings on your website regardless of its designed platform. Cache modules or plugins will store the temporary static contents of your website and develver them to the browsers when requested for next time. By this way, the processing time will be reduced and hence increase in loading speed. There are a lot of paid, free versions of plugins available on the market for all sort of CMS software.
Use a CDN (content delivery network)
Beyond the web server that hosts your website, you can also make use of other networks of servers to decrease the loading times for your visitors. When your site is hosted on one server, each user who visits your website will be redirected to the same server to view your website contents. With Content Delivery Networks such as Cloudflare, AWS Cloudfront, Key CNS, etc., a cache part of your entire website will be saved on the series of servers and it will be delivered to the visitors from the nearby location server when they request.
